Swivel Forerunner
A swivel forerunner is used in combination with an anchor 'D' end shackle and Kenter joining shackle and is a common construction aboard many vessels. The swivel forerunner is used to establish a connection between the anchor and the length of the chain cable or for connection in the chain locker.

GJW Super Swivel
This is the GJW Super Swivel (or GJW Superbox). Using less space, this shackle replaces the longer swivel forerunner (the anchor 'D' end shackle, swivel forerunner and enter joining shackle). The GJW Super swivel can be connected directly to the first common chain cable link and straight to the anchor shank.
