Inflatable rubber fenders are a type of ship fender device that uses compressed air as the buffer medium. They are widely used in ship berthing docks, dry docks, offshore platforms and berthing operations between ships. It absorbs impact energy through elastic deformation, reduces the collision damage between the hull and the wharf or the ship, and has both safety and economy.
Structure and Composition
The inflatable rubber fender adopts a multi-layer composite design. The core structure includes:
1. Inner rubber layer: A sealing layer to prevent gas leakage, made of rubber material with high elasticity and high adhesion.
2. Curtain layer: Made by winding high-strength nylon cord, it forms a frame structure, ensuring that the guard rail evenly distributes the load and maintains a stable shape when under pressure.
3. Outer rubber layer: A wear-resistant and aging-resistant rubber layer that protects the internal structure from corrosion by seawater or mechanical wear.
4. End flange: A metal component used for installing air valves, safety valves and fixing chains.
5. Sheath (optional) : Made by weaving chains, steel wires or used tires into a mesh, it covers the outer part of the gangway, enhancing wear resistance and extending service life.
