III. Main Types
Based on shape and structure, the main types of inflatable fenders are:
Cylindrical Fenders: The most common type, shaped like a cylinder. They offer high energy absorption and stability, widely used for ship berthing, mooring, and vessel-to-vessel operations.
D-Type Fenders: Feature a "D"-shaped cross-section with a flat contact face. They are more suitable for installation on vertical dock walls or ship sides, providing a larger contact area and lower pressure.
Arch-Type Fenders: Combine the advantages of cylindrical and D-type fenders for balanced performance.
Super Arch Fenders: An enhanced version of the arch-type with a reinforced structure for higher strength and energy absorption.
IV. Primary Applications
1. Ship Berthing and Mooring: Serving as a buffer at the dock face, protecting both the vessel and the wharf during arrival and departure.
2. Ship-to-Ship (STS) Operations: Essential for providing separation and cushioning when two vessels are alongside for cargo transfer (e.g., crude oil lightering) or personnel transfer.
3. Offshore Construction: Protecting construction vessels and temporary structures during the building of ports, bridges, and offshore wind farms.
4. Escort and Towing Operations: Mounted on the ship's side for protection when navigating narrow channels, during towing, or passing through locks to prevent contact with walls or other vessels.
5. Temporary and Permanent Protection: Their ease of deployment makes them ideal for temporary docks or as part of permanent port facilities.
